  2. Condensation: The high-temperature, high-pressure gas then travels to the condenser coils, usually located outside. As outside air flows over these coils, heat from the refrigerant is released, and it condenses back into a high-pressure liquid.
  3. Expansion: The high-pressure liquid refrigerant moves to an expansion valve, which reduces its pressure and temperature. This process causes the liquid refrigerant to become a cold, low-pressure gas.
  4. Evaporation: This cold gas then travels to the evaporator coils, typically located inside the home. As indoor air is blown over these cold coils, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the surrounding air and evaporates. The result is cooler air distributed throughout your living space.

Merely cooling the air isn’t enough. For an air conditioner to be effective, it needs to distribute the conditioned air uniformly across the rooms. This is achieved through a system of ducts and fans. As the system cools the air, fans help circulate it throughout the living or working space.

Equally important is the system’s ability to maintain a consistent temperature. Modern air conditioning units are equipped with thermostats that constantly monitor the room’s temperature. When the indoor temperature rises above the set level, the AC kicks in, and once the desired temperature is reached, it turns off, ensuring both comfort and energy efficiency.

The efficiency of an air conditioner isn’t solely determined by its inner workings or mechanism. Several external and environmental variables come into play. One primary consideration is the size of the unit in relation to the space it is intended to cool. An oversized or undersized unit can result in inefficient cooling, increased energy bills, and undue wear and tear.

The insulation of the room is another significant factor. Properly insulated spaces can retain cooled air for more extended periods, reducing the need for the AC to operate continuously. Conversely, poor insulation can lead to the constant escape of cooled air, making the AC work harder and less efficiently.
